Description
Corteva Agriscience is looking for a motivated Research Scientist to support the Biologicals and Insect and Nematode Management (INM) groups within Biologicals Biology and Field Sciences (BBFS), at our research and development facility in Indianapolis. The candidate will contribute to ongoing projects and conduct innovative research on bioinsecticides to develop and advance new biological solutions in the biologicals pipeline. Work responsibilities will be divided between product characterization for Biologicals Discovery phase projects.
Responsibilities - What You'll Do:
Optimize and execute current bioinsecticide screening assays
Utilize demonstrated expertise in biologicals, to lead the characterization and advancement of novel molecules or technologies within the discovery and development pipeline
Lead design, development, and execution of innovative assay capabilities for bioinsecticides for use in row and specialty crops
Contribute to all aspects of experiments, including providing technical expertise, setting-up and assessing trials, recording data, conducting data analysis, and delivering results aligned with CPD&D product goals for bioinsecticides
Serve as a bioinsecticide subject matter expert and project leader
Generate and clearly present summaries of technical results
Support registered products by executing bioassays to help to understand field challenges
Advocate environmental and personal health and safety by adherence to policies and procedures
Work in a team environment with other associate researchers, technicians, and other scientists
Qualifications
Requirements: What Skills You Need:
PhD in entomology, microbiology, or a closely related major
Demonstrated experience with continuous innovation in laboratory research is highly desirable.
Strong background and experience in bioinsecticides, including working with a broad range of biochemical and microbial insecticides
Experience working with and testing bioinsecticide crop protection products. Lab and greenhouse research experience with biologicals
Knowledge or experience with row/specialty crops and crop protection products
Strong aptitude in experimental design, hypothesis-driven problem solving, and good data analysis and interpretation skills
Demonstrated track record of scientific innovation
Strong project management skills and ownership for delivering high-quality results
Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to work across disciplines to achieve project goals
Proven ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Highly motivated with a desire to work in a laboratory and greenhouse setting
The following are highly preferred:
Experience genetically engineered/genetically modified microorganisms
Experience with entomopathogenic
Experience leading small teams to achieve research goals
Experience with high throughput assays or laboratory automation
