Ability Connection Colorado Classroom Aide in Denver, Colorado

JOB FUNCTION: Assist with the planning, organization, implementation and delivering of a birth to five program based on the individual and group educational, social and emotional potential of the children enrolled. Assist in managing and creating the classroom environment, provide input and observation concerning program participants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist in the implementation of daily activities that stimulate learning in all development areas (physical, social, emotional, and intellectual) for 10 to 12 infants and toddlers, or 15 to 20 preschool children, which may involve children with special needs. 1. Assist in the organization and maintenance of classroom materials and equipment.

  1. Assist in teaching team as needed with family involvement activities, meetings and home visits.

  2. Participate in the preparation and set up of curriculum, lesson plans, and daily classroom operations.

  3. Assist with screenings, including ESI, DECA, Developmental Checklist, ASQ, and Ounce, etc.

  4. Attend meetings and trainings.

  5. Ensure health and safety is maintained in the classroom at all times.

  6. Understand, implement, and follow requirements for NAEYC, ITERS/ECERS, Head Start, Early Head Start, Child Care Licensing, and agency policies and procedures.

  7. Assist in the implementation of the Social Emotional Pyramid.

  8. Support the preparation of and submit attendance records and food reports.

  9. Collaborate and partner as a member of a team.

  10. Communicate and partner with families.

  11. Other duties as assigned.

JOB STANDARDS:1. 1. Utilize Social Emotional Pyramid principles daily. Provide daily interactions with all children, including participating on the floor or at their level. 2. Assist Teacher in maintaining curriculum and learning centers. Communicate classroom needs to Lead Teacher.

  1. Attend and participate in home visits and child and family meetings. Assist with translation if applicable.

  2. Act as a member of daily operations team in classroom clean up, preparation, closing procedures and meal tracking.

  3. Complete screenings by annual deadlines and document completion of screenings in contact notes.

  4. Monthly and weekly. Assist with translation if applicable. Attend weekly open communication meetings with lead teacher.

  5. Follow health and safety checklist daily. Complete Accident/Health/Incident reports as needed. Follow proper hand washing and diapering/toileting procedures.

  6. Read and be familiar with policies and regulations within the first 3 months.

  7. Be involved in Social Emotional Development by providing and using social emotional tools.

  8. Documents will be turned in to supervisor in accordance with Federal, State, and local guidelines. Turn in weekly.

MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE: NONE SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TRAINING: Ability to positively interact with children and staff MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Must pursue AA in ECE starting with ECE 101 and 103 or 111, OR Infant Toddler CDA
